An antidote to blue Mondays.

Hi there,

Feeling blue?

WALPA and Rebel Walls have an antidote.

Check out this new bold and colorful collection from the custom murals designers Rebel Wall.

Rebel Walls hails from Sweden and wants to revolutionize the way we look at our walls.

Here is what they say about their designs and brand:

“Being a rebel is not an end in itself but rather a must. When you wish something that do not yet exist, you create it yourself.”

“Rebel Walls thinks outside the box – from the first stroke of creation to social responsibility. We give you the tools to change your surroundings on your terms. For each unique wallpaper created, Rebel Walls donates money to Habitat for Humanity to help people build their own homes. ”

But after all it is only wallpaper we are talking about.

I hope that you will enjoy this explosion of colors as much as I do.

This new collection will be available at WALPA shortly.

Until then, have a groovy Monday and keep on checking WALPA!

WALPA was here (Heimtextil)

WALPA is back from its hit and run mission in Frankfurt.

The Heimtextil fair is a well established event and the largest of its kind when it comes to wallpaper, wallcoverings and new printing technologies.

It is an exciting and busy show where the wallpaper world collides. Contrary to Maison & Objet, Heimtextil is not aimed at end users but professionals. This is a really unique chance to check the temperature and the new trends.

The site in itself is huge and WALPA had the difficult task to make the most out of single day we had on the ground.

Here is a short recap’ (are not included spoilers, new brands and new designs that still have to go public).

Expect a lot of exciting things popping up soon in WALPA.

The deceivingly small looking entrance:

Graham & Brown stylish booth is the perfect example of what a booth should look like.

Not too large, welcoming and easy to navigate through.

It is not overwhelming and let you breathe. Each design has its space and is a pleasure to look at.

Below are some new designs that we cannot wait to see in Japan. The Star Wars collection is a sure hit.

Moving on to the German wallpaper giants Rasch.

11 new exciting collections introduced in a booth the size of a convenient store.

Impressive, bold and yet stylish.

Accent has been put on the textures and it shows on the multiple skin designs available.

My favorite is the “Banana Leaf” wallpaper which is a different take on the classic Martinique Wallpaper. The realistic feel adds a new dimension to a timeless pattern.

We have found a bunch of interesting collections and will keep you posted.

Now on to Koziel.

The French masters of the trompe l’oeil wallpaper and fabrics.

A “young” and small company which had succeeded at creating a niche in the wallpaper world.

Koziel is unique and sets the trends…other people follow!

The chimney below is actually a fabric panel and the bookshelves wallpaper.

Koziel universe mixes a modern industrial vibe with an antique flair.

Bricks, metal plates, bookshelves and more…check it all out here!

There is so much more but I am not allowed to report yet…

The next day was spent in the small town of Kassel.

About an 1:30 from Frankfurt the Wallpaper Museum of Kassel is the home of more 9000 wallpaper designs…or so we have been told.

The main part of the museum is closed for renovation since…2008 and is nobody seems to know it will reopen.

We were still lucky to be able to enjoy the temporary exhibit wandlust.

Interesting to see old pattern books and a short history of wallpaper.

We will keep you posted so stay tuned.

Throwback thursday (well friday).

This is already the end of the week.

This is almost Christmas.

2015 is at our doorstep.

So many things happened in the wallpaper and in WALPA worlds.

New collections, new stores, new medias and more.

Flipping through all the Wallpaper World editions (not in chronological order) it reminds me why the wallpaper world is so exciting. There is always something happening.

Come on take a trip down memory lane with us.

It all began here. Vol1 featuring the new NLXL collection: Remixed Wallpaper by Arthur Slenk.

An awesome collection based on a painstaking work.

Milton & King has been part of WALPA collection for a while now and they always have been really supportive to say the least.

We wanted to do something special for them to express our gratitude, so we started a 3 months Milton & King fair.

Each time the staff is asked to pick up a design and pose…the results are quite interesting.

Flavor Paper doesn’t need to be introduce. Their Warhol collection is just out of this world. Uber-coolness and a game changing collection.

Think art meets wallpaper.

Speaking of which, this year ICFF was a blast. Cannot wait for the next. Tons of new designs and nice people.

It is always a pleasure to be around people like that.

Keep on pushing the wallpaper boundaries.

On this page: Calico, Deborah Bowness and Hannah Nunn.

Love you all.

2014 marks the birth of WALLTZ our own wallpaper series.

Japanese designers bring their art to your wall.

Taylor made and totally unique.

And off course we have opened a new store…in Ginza (the Japanese equivalent of the Champs Elysees ou 5th Avenue).

Only the cream of the cream of the wallpaper world.

We are the first in the world to offer you the possibility to simulate and put you in the atmosphere with our dedicated room.

You can change in real time the wallpaper and experience it live.

Check it out.

And off course the new NLXL collection: Studio Job Archive Wallpaper.

I guess that all of you have heard of it.

The coverage has been crazy and all the medias went wild.

Let’s just say that wallpaper has made history. Wall coverings will never be the same.

Stay tuned for more exciting news and designs.

Take care.

Collection Spotlight: Arthur Slenk X NLXL Remixed wallpaper series.

Hi there,

I just wanted to remind you today of this incredible wallpaper series from NLXL and Arthur Slenk.

This collection adds not only pattern but texture, patina and a sense of history to the wall.

The creative process in itself has been painstakingly long. It all started about 20 years ago when Arthur found a box of discarded handwritten sheet music and immediately felt in love with inks stains and paper texture.

Arthur decided to deconstruct, cut them to pieces and finally rearrange them in new patterns.

The result is a wallpaper nothing short of amazing and challenging. This is definitely not your standard wallpaper but it has a strong personality and uniqueness.

I would recommend this series to music connoisseurs with a strong taste for all things vintage.

This wallpaper tells a story and will bring you in a world of texture, stains and ink.

Check this awesome collection out and if you are in Japan come and check the real thing in person at WALPA.
